Receiving and Preparing Your Sampling Kit

Once you purchase a BeCrop® Test, you’ll receive a sampling kit to collect and send your soil samples to our lab. This guide covers what you’ll find in the kit and how to prepare before you start sampling.

What’s Included in Your Kit

  • Test tubes for soil collection

Step 1: Track Your Delivery

  • You’ll receive a confirmation email with your tracking number when your kit ships.

  • Delivery times vary by location.

Step 2: Review the Instructions

  • Read the printed instructions in the kit before you go to the field.

  • You will also receive a PDF copy of the sampling instructions by email.

Step 3: Prepare Your Metadata Sheet

You’ll receive an Excel metadata sheet to record essential information for each sample.

  • At minimum, this includes:
    • Field ID
    • Sample reference
    • Collection date
    • Crop type
    • GPS coordinates
  • For more detailed analysis, also record: soil type, irrigation methods, and any recent product applications.
  • Keep the sheet with you during sampling so you can capture data in real time.

Why this matters: Metadata is essential for mapping your samples, comparing management zones, and integrating weather/soil data into your report.

Step 4: Gather Your Tools

Before sampling day, make sure you have:

  • Your sampling kit
  • Sampling instructions (printed or PDF)
  • Completed or partially filled metadata sheet
  • Clean sampling tools (to prevent cross-contamination)
  • GPS-enabled device or smartphone for recording coordinates
  • Clean bucket (optional, for mixing cores)
