Impact of Biological Inputs on Soil Microbes in Almond Orchards
Prior research in strawberries indicated that TrueSolum enhances microbes that influence the uptake of iron and other cations. TrueAlgae wanted to confirm this data in a different crop that has significant problems with iron uptake.

The Solution
TrueAlgae initiated trials in 3 California almond orchards having high pH soils with clear IDC symptoms. These studies included Biome Makers BeCrop® Trial analysis as well as visual ratings of iron deficiency symptoms over time.
Results
There were key similarities between all three of the almond studies that were also similar to the prior strawberry trials that further confirmed the mode of action of TrueAlgae.
- In all 3 almond locations, the TrueSolum plots had higher levels of siderophore producing bacteria compared to the control. Siderophores are strong iron chelators that make iron much more available to plants.
- The TrueSolum treated plots also had higher levels of bacteria that influence zinc and manganese transport compared to the control in both trial locations.
- Available soil nutrients were measured and showed increases in not only Fe, Zn and Mn.
